AI Builders Programme: Terms and Refund Policy

These terms apply when you accept a place on the StudyStream AI Builders Programme and pay for it. If anything is unclear, email admissions@studystream.live before you pay.

1. Who we are

The programme is run by Knowledge Collective Ltd, trading as StudyStream, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11870531), of 167-169 Great Portland Street, London, W1W 5PF. In these terms, "we" and "us" means Knowledge Collective Ltd and "you" means the participant.

2. The programme

Dates and price: each cohort's dates and tuition are set out in the Cohort details section at the end of these terms and in your offer email.

Format: fully remote. Live sessions with our team, project work, feedback and mentoring. Expect around 12 to 15 hours a week. Session times are shared before the start and are scheduled to suit a range of time zones.

What's included:

  • Live teaching, mentoring and feedback from our team
  • A project on one of our tracks, or on your own project if we agree it with you
  • Access to the tools we provide for the programme during the four weeks
  • A certificate of completion and a written reference, if you meet the conditions in section 9

What it isn't: this is a paid course, not a job, internship or placement. You are a participant, not an employee or worker, and you won't be paid for your work. It is not an accredited qualification.

3. Eligibility and your place

You must be 18 or over. Places are offered after our selection process (application, take-home challenge and interview). An offer is personal to you and can't be transferred.

Your place is confirmed once we receive your payment (or first instalment, if we've agreed a payment plan) by the deadline in your offer email. If payment isn't received by then, we may offer the place to someone else.

4. Price and payment

Tuition is shown in the Cohort details section and your offer email, and includes any taxes that apply where you live. It's payable within 7 days of your offer, through our payment provider (Stripe). Card fees and any currency conversion charged by your bank are your responsibility.

5. Payment plans

If we've agreed a payment plan with you, you'll pay in 3 instalments, with the amounts and dates set out in your offer email, charged automatically to the card you pay with. There's no interest or extra charge.

If an instalment fails, we'll let you know and give you 7 days to pay. If it's still unpaid after that, we may pause your access to the programme until it's paid. Your certificate and reference are issued once all instalments have been paid.

6. Cancellation and refunds

We want you to feel comfortable committing, so the policy is simple:

When you cancelWhat you get back
Any time before your cohort startsA full refund
During the first week of the programme50% of the tuition
After the first weekNo refund, unless your legal rights below say otherwise, or we've failed to deliver what we promised

Your legal rights. These terms don't affect any consumer rights you have under the laws of the country where you live.

On a payment plan, we'll cancel any instalments not yet taken. If you've paid more than the amount you're entitled to keep from the table above, we'll refund the difference. If you've paid less, you won't owe anything more.

If we cancel or move the programme (for example, if too few people enrol, or for reasons outside our control), you can choose a full refund or a place on the next cohort. If we make a change that significantly affects the programme, such as moving the dates, you can cancel for a full refund.

How to cancel: email admissions@studystream.live. Refunds go back to the original payment method within 14 days.

7. Your commitments

By taking part, you agree to:

  • Attend live sessions where you can, and let us know if you'll miss one
  • Treat other participants and our team with respect
  • Do your own work. Using AI tools is encouraged, but submissions must be yours, not someone else's
  • Keep confidential anything we share about StudyStream that isn't public, during and after the programme
  • Use the data and tools we provide only for the programme, and never try to identify individual users from any data

If you seriously or repeatedly break these commitments, we may remove you from the programme. If that happens, we'll explain why, and any refund will be at our discretion.

8. Your work

You own the work you create on the programme, and you can show it in your portfolio and to employers, as long as you leave out anything confidential.

Work on StudyStream projects: projects are learning exercises first, but good ideas sometimes make it into the product. You give us a free, permanent, non-exclusive right to use, adapt and build on your project work, including in StudyStream. You keep ownership, and you're welcome to talk about your role in it on your CV and in interviews.

Your own project: if we've agreed you'll work on your own project, it stays entirely yours, and we only use it to run the programme.

Projects set by partner organisations may come with extra terms, which we'll share before you start.

9. Certificates and references

You'll receive a certificate of completion if you:

  • Attend at least 75% of live sessions (or catch up on the recording, if you let us know in advance)
  • Hand in your weekly milestones
  • Complete your project and present it at demo day
  • Have paid in full

You'll also receive a written reference, which reflects our honest assessment of your work. Participants whose work stands out may receive a certificate with distinction.

10. No guaranteed outcomes

We'll work hard to help you build skills and a strong portfolio, and top performers may be considered for paid opportunities with us. But we can't guarantee a job, internship, income or any other outcome.

11. Your data and recordings

This section explains how we handle your personal data for the programme.

What we collect: your application answers, take-home submission, interview (including a recording, if you agree at the start), payment confirmation, attendance, project work, and feedback on your work. Card details are handled by our payment provider (Stripe). We never see or store them.

Why: to select participants, run the programme, take payment, and issue certificates and references.

Who helps us: trusted providers that process data on our behalf, including Typeform (applications), Calendly (interview booking), Stripe (payments), Google Workspace (email and documents), and our video and note-taking tools. Some are based outside the UK, and we use providers with appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it: for applicants who aren't offered a place, up to 12 months, so we can tell you about future cohorts if you agreed to that. For participants, for as long as we need it to provide certificates and references, then we delete it.

Recordings: live sessions may be recorded so participants can catch up, and we'll tell you at the start of any recorded session.

Projects: programme projects use synthetic or aggregated data, never personal data about StudyStream users.

Your rights: you can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time by emailing admissions@studystream.live. Our general privacy policy also applies.

12. Our responsibility to you

We'll provide the programme with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't legally be limited. Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us, and we're not responsible for losses we couldn't reasonably have foreseen.

13. Questions and complaints

Email admissions@studystream.live. We'll reply within 5 working days and try to resolve any issue quickly and fairly.

14. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live outside the UK, you keep any protections that the law where you live gives you and that can't be changed by agreement.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for future cohorts. The version you accepted when you paid applies to your cohort.
